Muay Thai in Manchester
Here at the "World Famous" Sitsiam Camp Manchester we teach the Martial Art of Muay Thai because Muay Thai not just for sport or self defence, but is a true martial art.
About Muay Thai -Thai Boxing
This ancient Siamese Martial Art of Self Defence utilises nine weapons: two hands, two elbows, two knees, two legs and the head. The ninth weapon, the head was used in the past for attacking when head butting was permitted. Although head butting is no longer permitted in the modern sport, the head is the most important weapon of all because it houses the brain which is essential for outmanoeuvring and outsmarting one's opponent.
Muay Thai Rituals
Besides the physical aspect of the sport there is also the spiritual side which together go hand in hand. All Thai Boxers (Nak Muay) must show respect to the art. This is accomplished through the Wai Kru (Respect to Teacher) and Ram Muay (Ritual Dance) which are performed before every Muay Thai bout and also on special occasions such as Kru Muay day.
