History of the Sitsiam Camp

Clayton
1983

Sitsiam Camp originally opened in 1983 at the Fighters and Fitness Centre in Clayton, East Manchester with its roots firmly set in the sport of Muay Thai. During this period Kru Tony was a famous active Muay Thai fighter winning his Champion of Champions title in 1988 and under Kru Tony's lead the school went on to produce many Muay Thai champions and International Thai Boxers.
In 1992 Kru Tony began studying Krabi-Krabong at Buddhai Swan,Thailand under the auspices of Por Kru Samai Messamarn. Kru Tony achieved his 9th Degree Gold Sash, becoming the highest graded student of Krabi Krabong outside of Thailand. Thereby becoming a direct link to the Buddhai Swan, Si-Ayutthaya, Thailand also during this period Arjarn Tony's close friend in Thailand, Khun Virasak Tokakuna became the camp's Honorary President.

Ashton-under-Lyne
1994

1994 saw the Sitsiam Camp and Buddhai Swan Institute open a new school at the Portland Mill. in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, Greater Manchester. This was our second purpose built Thai Martial Arts School, giving the students a unique venue in which to immerse themselves in the traditions and culture of Thailand.
By this juncture the Sitsiam Camp/Buddhai Swan, England had become a true Thai Martial Arts Centre of excellence, teaching Muay Thai (Thai Boxing), Muay Boran (Traditional Thai Boxing), and Krabi Krabong (Thai weapons Art). The school also teaches a unique form of self defence, combining all the Thai martial arts, Arjarn Tony as taught security companies, police agencies around different parts of the world and also the US Marines.
By September 2018 the Sitsiam Camp/Buddhai Swan had moved to Stalybridge and added another class to it's curriculum, The Tiny Thais Club, especially for children five years of age.

Stalybridge
2018

Our new location is Unit 15, Whitelands Business Park, Whitelands Road/Clarence Street, Stalybridge/Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester SK15 1QL. With the new Camp bigger than the previous premises means more classes are held now than ever before. Transporting all the artefacts from our Shrine and Temple at the old camp to the new one took many days. These precious items were presented by Muay Thai teachers and friends in Thailand.  Our Shrine and Temple are a big part of what makes the Sitsiam Camp/Buddhai Swan so unique in the West and serve also to remind the students that knowledge comes from the Teachers of the past.
Many of our former students upon visiting the new Sitsiam Camp have remarked that the new Camp has a "Really good atmosphere" and a "Good vibe" and that the interior looks amazing.
The camp/school has never forgotten its roots and continues to teach in the way Arjarn Tony was taught in Thailand, Hard! 555.

About our School and the Chief Instructor

Sitsiam Camp and Arjarn Tony Moore.
The Sitsiam Camp, Ashton-under-Lyne/Stalybridge, Tameside, SKI5 1QL,
Greater Manchester.

Arjarn Tony Moore has been flitting between England and Thailand for most of his life. In the early days Arjarn Tony trained in Muay Thai, which would eventually lead him to other aspects of the Thai Martial arts, especially
Krabi Krabong.

Arjarn Tony began to study with the late Arjarn Samai Messamarn at the Buddhai Swan Institute in Thailand in 1992.
Following his first period of study at the Institute Arjarn Tony's vision was to open a school in England just like the Buddhai Swan Institute in Thailand teaching Muay Thai, Muay Boran and Krabi Krabong.

The Sitsiam Camp had been in existence since 1983 and in 2002 the Sitsiam Camp became the representative for Buddhai Swan Institute of Thailand. Two Schools in one authentically and traditionally Thai. At the school we give students the opportunity of training in the Thai Martial Arts just as they would in Thailand but without ever stepping onto an aeroplane!
