Muay Thai in Manchester. Here at the “World Famous” Sitsiam Camp Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, Stalybridge, Greater Manchester we teach the complete system of Muay Thai,
not only just for sport but for self-development or even self defence.
About Muay Thai in Manchester. Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) The ancient Siamese Martial Art of Self Defence utilises nine weapons: two hands, two elbows, two knees, two legs and the head. The ninth weapon, the head, was used for attacking in the days when head butting was permitted. Although head butting is no longer permitted in the modern sport, the head is the most important weapon of all because it contains the brain: essential for out manoeuvering and outsmarting one’s opponent.
Besides the physical aspect of the sport there is also the spiritual side together they go hand in hand.
All Thai Boxers (Nak Muay) must show respect to the art. This is accomplished through the Wai Kru (Respect to Teacher) and Ram Muay (Ritual Dance) performed before every Muay Thai bout and on special occasions like Kru Muay day.
Muay Thai at the Sitsiam Camp/Buddhai Swan will not only make you fit it will make you fighting fit!
Muay Thai is ideal for self defence mainly because Muay Thai is a full contact sport and quite simply – it has to work!
People from all walks of life train in Muay Thai. Some people like to train for the sport and to compete, others for fitness and self defence, a number of people just enjoy training in the Martial Arts.
